SOME OF THE THINGS WE HAVE DONE

  1. Led the effort in 2004 thru 2006 to retain currently zoned building heights in the downtown business district.
  2. When in 2008, citizens reacted negatively to High-rise Development alternatives being considered by the owners of the Skippers,Old Safeway and Harbor Square properties, ACE stepped in and held open meetings to formulate, and successfully presented alternatives including that the city consider purchasing those properties.
  3. In 2008, ACE raised $4,350 for a scholarship fund that was in part distributed to the five Edmonds-Woodway High School students who developed and presented exciting architectural designs as possible ideas for the re-development of the Old Safeway store and surrounding property.
  4. Supported and provided resources to the Southwest Edmonds Neighborhood Association (SENA) in its successful efforts to have the city of Edmonds purchase and preserve open space at the old Woodway Elementary School site.
  5. ACE partnered with the Edmonds Senior Center to provide excellent and successful opportunities to “Meet the Candidates” for both the 2007 City Mayoral and the 2009 City Council elections.

WE CONTINUE TO:

  • Actively provide input related to the redevelopment efforts at the Skippers / Old Antique Mall/ Harbor Square properties.
  • Strive to make positive contributions to the community, particularly with regards to land use proposals, as well as a variety of other civic interests consistent with our stated goals
  • Provide information on and input related to other land use issues in the city as they arise.
  • Expand our efforts beyond downtown into the entire community, including other business activity centers, Highway 99 and the Stevens/Swedish Medical Center
